The Tangible Image Biennale is organized by the association of the same name, domiciled at 9 rue des Deux Gares 75010 Paris.
The Biennale de l'Image Tangible proposes to present in various exhibition venues in eastern Paris and the Marais a selection of works that tend to emancipate themselves from a classic approach to the photographic medium. The dates of the festival are between November 1 and December 03, 2023.
Alongside a flagship exhibition organized under the artistic direction of the organizers, a series of exhibitions is organized in partner venues. A call for competition is launched for artists to participate in the Biennale and exhibit in the satellite spaces selected by the organization. A jury of personalities from the world of art and photography will be responsible for examining the applications. This jury is independent of the organization and its decisions are sovereign.
A public award with the laureates will be set up on Instagram in October 2023.
Proposals must necessarily address new uses, languages and photographic practices. Capture techniques other than photographic cameras are accepted. Mixed techniques are accepted, on the sole condition that the works are part of an approach related to photography. Printing on materials other than paper is accepted, as well as projects broadcast on screen or projected video.
Applications are to be sent exclusively via the online participation form on the www.bit20.paris website. They will be composed of a series of 1 to 6 visuals maximum, the description of the project (1500 characters maximum) and the techniques used. Several projects may be submitted to the jury, in which case they must be the subject of separate applications.
The title of the series, a presentation text in French or in English, a technical description and a CV/biography and the complete contact details of the candidate must imperatively appear.
Participation in the competition implies that each artist has the rights and authorizations necessary for the distribution of their works. Otherwise, the Tangible Image Biennale cannot be held liable.
The competition is open to everyone and without any limitation. However, the artists selected for the previous edition cannot compete for the next one. The images submitted must necessarily reflect new uses, languages and photographic practices. The theme is free.
The opening date for registration is scheduled for February 28, 2023, and the closing of the call on April 28, 2023 at midnight subject to modifications. The results will be announced in June 2023 on the Biennale website. Selected candidates will be contacted individually.
Candidates will pay a contribution to the costs of twenty euros, paid to the Biennale de l'Image Tangible association, in order to cover the costs of managing the files. Payment will only be made via PayPal on the dedicated registration page on the site.
