Floreal Belleville

17 nov - 30 nov

Opening on November 17 from 18 p.m. to 22 p.m.

Zoé Aubry / Bérénice Lefebvre / Camille Lévêque

Zoe AUBRY
Born in 1993, lives and works in Geneva
A graduate of ECAL in Lausanne, she is currently preparing a master's degree in contemporary artistic practices at Head (Geneva). Won the Swiss Design Award, the MBAL Relève Award and the Voies Off 2019 award.

Positioning itself between a societal and media criticism, Zoé Aubry's work questions the difficulty of making murdered unknowns exist in our mode of visualization and perception. His Nom Inconnus project (2018-ongoing) thus deals with feminicides, as an extreme point of social and macho oppression.
Suffering from atrocities similar to those inflicted on these women, these photographs are the result of a deteriorating process of extreme violence. Remodeled in three dimensions, the representation of space is reinvented. Through their movements, the pieces address our situation as spectator-spectator, implying a responsibility on our part.

Berenice LEFEBVRE
Born in 1987 in Paris. Lives and works in Paris.
Graduated from Fine Arts in Rennes and from the National School of Fine Arts in Paris.
Represented by Galerie Eric Mouchet (Paris).

My artistic approach finds its impetus in walking. This act of crossing space evolves into a symbolic form of inhabiting the world, where the attitude of the body is that of an observer launched in a quest for unknown territories. It is on the outskirts of cities that this action takes place, in this interstice where the body is confronted with a multitude of surfaces, frames and physical or pictorial screens. I therefore generate a bank of images (photographic documents and digital graphic elements) which allow me to modulate and create hybridizations between image, sculpture and installation. The result is a diversity of interventions and possible combinations, which renew our gaze on a changing architectural landscape.
Experimentation in the workshop shows that photography, digital and screen printing, far from being purely mechanical processes or faithful reproductions of an element, accept chances that emerge in the compositions. These processes allow me to reconnect with a certain magic of the image, and the uniqueness of the work of art.

Camille LEVEQUE
Born in 1985 in Paris. Lives and works in Ivry-sur-Seine.
Graduated in literature and plastic arts at the University of Paris 8.

Orchestrating a discussion in two voices, Camille Lévêque and Lucie Khahoutian recount and unravel their relationship to Armenia and to memory. The first, French of Armenian origin, and the second, Armenian exiled in France, confront their history and the way in which time alters their memories, transforming their experiences into fictionalized stories, voluntarily leaving room for inaccuracies and rewritings.
In the form of a diptych, this conversation highlights the melancholy relationship of a community to its heritage, and the sometimes difficult exchanges between Armenians and their diaspora. This exchange confronts archive and contemporary media, and engages a back and forth between past, present and future, reality and fiction. The story told here follows the course of time, its impact on memory, and therefore, on truth. By delving into the story, inconsistencies appear, and reveal that we are not actually attending a discussion, but a monologue. Camille Lévêque is the sole mistress of the operation, attributing to her alias Lucie Khahoutian (actually her grandmother) a voice lighter than hers.
This internal dialogue, staged and developed in imaginary conversation between several generations of the same family, then fully illustrates the construction of a layered identity, and the desire for a new lexical field to tell the story of armenity.
